Inspiration

The inspiration behind SereneMind came from my desire to create a user-friendly and personalized mental health app that harnesses the power of music. I recognized the need for accessible mental health resources and wanted to provide a tool that could support individuals in monitoring and improving their well-being.

What it does

Serenemind is a mental health app that allows users to rate their mental health on a regular basis. It provides a simple and intuitive interface where users can track their mood, anxiety levels, and overall mental well-being. Based on the user's ratings, the app generates personalized song recommendations from a vast library of carefully curated tracks.

How I built it

I built SereneMind using Android Studio, the official integrated development environment (IDE) for Android app development. The app was developed using Java and XML for the front-end components. Firebase, a cloud-based platform, was integrated for secure data storage and retrieval.

Challenges I ran into

Throughout the development process, I encountered challenges such as seamlessly integrating machine learning algorithms for real-time song recommendations and designing a user-friendly interface.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

I am proud to have developed an app that combines mental health tracking and music therapy in a single platform. My accomplishment lies in successfully integrating the recommendation engine, providing personalized song suggestions based on mental health ratings.

What I learned

During the development of SereneMind, I learned the importance of designing user-centered experiences in the mental health space and gained insights into the benefits of music for mental well-being. I also improved my skills in machine learning algorithms and their application in personalized recommendations.

What's next for SereneMind

In the future, I plan to expand SereneMind's features by integrating additional tracking metrics and collaborating with mental health professionals to incorporate evidence-based therapeutic techniques. I also aim to enhance the music recommendation engine by leveraging user feedback and preferences, ensuring even more accurate and tailored song suggestions.
