Inspiration

Our inspiration for this project is to help fellow minorities go through the overwhelming and difficult process of becoming U.S. citizens. This project strikes close to home as our team members have personally witnessed loved ones go through the naturalization process of becoming U.S. citizens. Our goal for this project is to simply develop another resource for minority communities that already lack many in the first place. South Florida in particular is a base for many diverse communities and individuals that would benefit from a service such as this.

What it does

Seeking Citizenship is a web-based application that simplifies the naturalization process of becoming a U.S. citizen by guiding the user step by step through documentation while providing tips and resources. It also promotes building community and support groups by encouraging individuals to connect with others going through similar processes via social forums. Last

How we built it

We used common front-end development languages such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Bootstrap as a framework.

Challenges we ran into

Challenges that we ran into was designing our web app to be simple and straightforward for our targeted users. Technical challenges that arose were maneuvering Github as a team and merging our code without overriding important pieces and creating bugs. Lastly, we had to consider time constraints and feasibility when thinking about whether the project could be done through mobile or web development.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Finally completing the project and getting to live demo it! It was an educational experience where we got to design, prototype, code, and then finally implement our project.

What we learned

We learned more about the product life cycle, how to live off of 3 hours of sleep, and create functions using Java Script efficiently.

What's next for Seeking Citizenship

Creating a database to store user input/data and expanding the social forum by adding additional features.
