Inspiration
Struggles as a college student to find a place to study/eat/rest on campus due to overcrowding
What it does
Uses a sensor to detect when a seat is available and uploads it to a web page that visualizes it on a campus map on what seats are available
How we built it
Uses a sensor and an Arduino and created a webpages that accepts output from the Arduino and uses it to update a virtual seat map to visualize available seats.
Challenges we ran into
Trying to get it to work on multiple sensors and setting up the Arduino and webpage. Limited workspace due to the Adriano having to be hooked up to the computer.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Getting multiple sensors to work and the webpage to successfully and accurate represent the seating. The functioning UI.
What we learned
Teamwork, Time-management, working under pressure
What's next for Seatify
developing better UI, app to all college students, outsourcing to other campuses and corporations to make their own maps for their own purposes. Figuring out a system that works better than an Arduino like a camera that better senses when people are occupying spaces
