Inspiration
We were inspired by the AssemblyAI's API as well as the fact that we are all university students and the theme of diversity in tech
What it does
transcribes recorded lectures into notes and translates them into 30+ languages
How we built it
We set up the AssemblyAI API to a website where the user can upload a video file of the lecture. the API does its thing, then we translate it using a translator code, reformat the text, and boom, you got lecture notes
Challenges we ran into
implementing AssemblyAi's API, learning javascript, making a website, combining the three steps of transcribing the file, looping the GET request, figuring out how to use the functions asynchronously, everything else, Finding a mentor to help with niche things
Accomplishments that we're proud of
learning javascript, using assemblyAI, building a website, overcoming all of the challenges, collaborating in a group setting.
What we learned
how to program Javascript, HTML, CSS, python, how to use assemblyAI
What's next for ScribeThat
adding more languages, keywords, subjects, more formatting features, connecting this to a university page so you don't have to take the steps of downloading and uploading, having the application itself in multiple languages. Different formats based on category, speaker, or things like changing paragraph and line spacing
