What is Scout?

Scout is a Chrome extension that lets you search for scenes in Youtube videos by using computer vision to determine what's in each frame.

Why Scout?

From person to company, Scout benefits everyone. Media-sharing services like YouTube get better ways to index their videos, meaning a better search experience for their users. Content developers i.e. YouTubers, can be discovered with searches that are more relevant to their content. And finally, the user.

We've had text search for decades. Now, with Scout, we're bringing search to video at a whole new level.

How did we make Scout?

We used a state of the art machine learning algorithm and an image processing pipeline that uses Flask, Python, and AWS to balance accuracy with speed. Scout is accessible to users through a Google extension.
