Inspiration

Have you ever missed an online class or meeting because you forgot what time it was? Ever since the pandemic more and more people have shifted to attending school and work online from home. This means there's a higher number of zoom and google meetings to keep track of, all with varying days and times. We ourselves, as students, found ourselves overwhelmed with classes and club meetings. That's why we created Scheme: The Schedule Creator! (link to website demo: https://Scheme.nikkiye.repl.co)

What it does

Scheme is a schedule creator that tracks your weekly classes, meetings, and appointments! We have two formats: "School Format" provides a way for you to enter your class, a dropdown selecting if it's a zoom or google meet, and a space for you to enter that link or code. It then provides a desktop notification to you to join that class. "Week Format" is created for those who have changing weekly schedules or those who like to view their schedule at once. For this format users enter their schedule based on their time and day, and can print the schedule once it's done so they can have it by their desk.

How we built it

We collaboratively coded on repl.it with HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript.

Challenges we ran into

Designing the blueprint for our formats; figuring out how we wanted our table to look for Weekly Format and how we wanted our inputs to look for School Format. Since we are beginners, another challenge was figuring out how to utilize our skills in HTML and CSS to create a pleasing UI/UX design and add extra features.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Scheme will provide students and workers with an easier and more efficient way of planning their time during this unprecedented pandemic. It will teach our generation stronger skills in time management and organization, as well as inspire younger students to take accountability over their schedule.

What we learned

We learned how to build a website using HTML5, CSS3, and Javascript. From this experience, we learned how to collaborate with teammates more efficiently, and the importance of having collaborative learning.

What's next for Scheme

Scheme is in alpha version, expect updates! We will improve our formatting and try to add more functionalities, for example, login page and download schedule option to our website.
