Inspiration

Its been more than a year now since covid wreaked havoc on the world….and still every day there are more positive cases than the previous day. Why? Because we are unable to stop the spread. Social distancing is no longer a thing. Maintaining a minimum distance from another individual all the time can be difficult. I worked on proposing a device that helps with just that!

What it does

Introducing safety band, a band that helps control the spread of coronavirus and other contagious diseases. It has to be worn on both arms for full coverage. It doesn't require anyone to install any application, it's completely safe and reliable.

How I built it

The microcontroller that is used in this model is NodeMCU ESP32. The development board provides interfaces to connect other peripherals such as buzzer and LED. Piezoelectric buzzers is an audio signalling device. The buzzer alerts the user if anyone comes within the range of the PIR sensor.

Passive Infrared (PIR) Sensor, the passive word indicates that the PIR Sensor does not generate or radiate any energy for detection purposes. Its sensitivity can be adjusted to get smaller or larger sweep range. The four PIR Sensors detect movement in the surroundings within the range. The complete system is powered using a pair of lithium ion 18650 batteries through a battery management system.

Accomplishments that I am proud of

The proposed device is affordable and safe, and can be used by anyone.

What we learned

How to make productive stuff in 24 hours :D

What's next for Sashmita

To further improve this model and make a working prototype.
