Inspiration
After being a cs major for a semester, we started to get sick of the stinky cs majors who don’t wanna shower. We started to wonder why they wouldn't, but then we wondered, why couldn’t they. We realized that it might be because they are too busy or lazy to find the quality hygiene products they need cheap, and fast.
What it does
So we made a website to streamline the research process of these hygiene products to make it easier and more accessible to busy college students
How we built it
We used HTML and CSS to design the website and the general outline of it. We then used JavaScript to read and collect data from other websites that uses their reviews and prices to put it in the Salty Scalp rating.
Challenges we ran into
We ran into a couple of challenges as this is the first hackathon for most of us. We couldn't get GitHub to work properly, syntax error, but also finding the proper code to get the program running.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Things that we are able to do is make a product, that is similar to our initial design with some tweaks, and being able to submit it on time. Although it's not a good website, it's still a proper website that gets our objective achieved.
What we learned
We learned a lot about the program and should optimize using an APT next time. Also learned more about the language and how to properly use it.
What's next for Salty Scalp
We plan to use API to incorporate more products that goes out than just shampoo products. We plan to do soap, body wash, conditioners and more in the future, as well as strengthen our algorithm to make sure that Salty Scalp rating is functioning properly.
