Inspiration
The idea for SHE Raksha was inspired by a simple but critical problem — most safety apps depend entirely on the user to take action during emergencies. In real-life situations, a person may not always have the time, awareness, or ability to manually trigger help.
This led to a key question: What if a safety system could think and act on its own? With this thought, we designed a system that works silently in the background and takes action before situations escalate.
What it does
SHE Raksha is a smart safety application that continuously monitors user activity, location, and movement patterns to detect unusual behavior.
Instead of waiting for manual input, the system:
Detects inactivity or risky situations Triggers a countdown for confirmation Automatically sends alerts to trusted contacts Shares live location Initiates a fake call to help the user exit uncomfortable situations
This ensures safety through proactive and automated response, not just reactive measures.
How we built it
The project was designed with a strong focus on user experience and system logic.
Created a complete user flow from onboarding to emergency response Designed intuitive UI screens using Figma Structured the system to simulate real-time detection and automated actions Focused on minimal interaction and maximum efficiency
The design emphasizes clarity, quick understanding, and real-world usability.
Challenges we ran into
One of the main challenges was designing a system that feels intelligent and realistic without making it overly complex.
We had to carefully:
Balance automation with user control Maintain UI consistency across multiple screens Clearly communicate system actions (like detection and alerts) through design
Another challenge was transforming a serious safety concept into a simple and user-friendly interface
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of building a safety solution that goes beyond manual alerts by automatically detecting risks and taking action. We successfully designed a complete user flow with features like live tracking, smart alerts, countdown-based responses, and a fake call system, all with a clean and consistent UI focused on real-world usability.
What we learned
Through this project, we learned that great design is not just about visuals, but about solving real problems effectively.
We understood:
The importance of system thinking in UX design How to design for real-world scenarios and user behavior The value of clarity, simplicity, and consistency in product design
This project helped us move from just designing screens to designing complete user experiences with logic and purpose.
What's next for Safety app (SHE raksha)
In the future, we aim to enhance the app with AI-based risk prediction, wearable device integration (smartwatch), and real-time emergency service connectivity. We also plan to improve accuracy using sensor data and expand features like voice-triggered alerts and community safety networks, making the system smarter and more reliable.
