Inspiration
Recent events have endangered the lives of some students and had injured others. Other events disrupt the way a student learns and thinks. For example, 33% of elementary students and 20% of kindergarten students reported being bullied often. This threatens students' safety, and can negatively effect their successes in school.
What it does
Interacts with the user and educates them on safety in schools by multiple choice, drag and drop, and survey-style questions.
How we built it
Using Python, we teamwork and helped each other. This way, we knew what our partners were doing, and we can coordinate our efforts to create a better project. We also held meetings in order to check on each other and solve problems that appear.
Challenges we ran into
Getting the buttons to work, constructing the skeleton of the code. And, finding some images and icons. The icons were challenging because there are many pictures out there, but many won't fit our requirements.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of finishing the project and trying new things. We are also proud of getting better at github, python, and pygame.
What we learned
We learned that bullying is a serious issue in schools, and that natural disasters can place the lives of students at risk. We also learned the best ways to prevent them, and the best things to do if disaster strikes. We also learned how to use github, python, and pygame.
What's next for SaferSchools
We plan to add more categories and expand the ones we already have. We also plan to upgrade our UI and make our code more organized.
