SafeKey
SafeKey is a secure and user-friendly Password Generator web application that allows users to generate strong and unique passwords for their online accounts. As an aspiring developer, I wanted to build a tool that simplifies the process of creating secure passwords while also ensuring the privacy of sensitive information.
The inspiration for SafeKey came from the daily challenges of managing multiple online accounts and the importance of having strong passwords. I often found myself struggling to create strong passwords that were unique for each account. I realized that many people face similar challenges, and there's a need for a convenient solution that enhances online security.
Throughout the development of SafeKey, I learned valuable skills in front-end web development using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. It was a fantastic opportunity to practice my coding abilities and understand how to create a smooth user experience. Additionally, I honed my understanding of DOM manipulation and event handling to create a responsive and interactive web application.
Building Process The initial phase involved brainstorming and designing the project. I envisioned a clean and intuitive interface that allows users to customize password length and character types. Next, I focused on implementing the password generation logic, ensuring that each generated password adheres to strong security standards.
Challenges Faced During development, I initially considered building a Chrome extension for password generation. However, dealing with API integrations and security concerns seemed complex and beyond the scope of the hackathon. Instead, I decided to concentrate on creating a self-contained web application that can be easily deployed and accessed by users.
Building SafeKey was an exciting journey, and I am proud of the final product. It not only helped me grow as a developer but also serves as a practical tool for anyone seeking strong and unique passwords. In the future, I plan to further enhance SafeKey by incorporating password strength evaluation and providing options for generating pronounceable passwords.
