Inspiration

All the safety apps we've seen till date is only for women and non inclusive of other genders, being a part of Gen Z our main ideology is inclusivity. Social Media has played a part in including the LGBTQ community to some extent, here we are playing our part by making safety available for everyone respective of gender.

What it does

This app contacts your emergency numbers and shares your location with them within the click of a finger, it also provides with a discussion forum where you can drop in your thoughts anonymously and get solutions all by not revealing your identity.

How we built it

We built the mobile application using Flutter and Material UI. For the maps we used GoogleMaps API. For the database we used Firebase.

Challenges we ran into

We had a hard time integrating the GoogleMaps sdk in flutter. We had had tough time figuring out the database structure for the app We did not cover up all our functionalities in depth and this made us feel a bit worried. Using GPS to find the location of a user and sorting according to the distance takes a lot of time and hence we couldn't include that function. Managing time and completing the project on time was challenging yet thrilling.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud to build an inclusive app.

What we learned

Complications of Flutter and a step ahead of flutter Techniques. We learnt to use Firebase and integrate the map.

What's next for SafePal

We'll be adding a separate registration form for signing up your houses so that people in danger nearby can take cover till the authorities arrive and then improve the UI of the application. Add more functionalities We always appreciate contributions to our GitHub repo. once this hackathon is complete to implement this in real life
