Inspiration
The strong focus on grades and examinations has led many teenagers feeling stressed and unhappy. Other sources of unhappiness includes not knowing how to deal with interpersonal relationships.
Inspired by Tinkerfriend, whom provides similar services to primary-school children. We further improvise upon and take it one step further by providing anonymous, session-based chats to teenagers aged 12-17.
What it does
Safe-Haven is a mobile app that aims to provides a safe and anonymous place to connect teenagers aged 12 - 17 years old with trained professionals to talk about their troubles.
Be it stress from studies, troubles with relationships or family, Safe Haven aims to provide an easy way for teenagers to connect to professionals to voice out their troubles on the go.
We hope that by providing an listening ear and offering professional advices, they can feel better through voicing their thoughts out
Challenges we ran into
One of the major challenges faced was to integrate the app together after working independently. However, we managed to overcome this with good teamwork and constant communication and clarifications.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
No sleep! We did so much < 24 hours! Really impressive! We have come so far! 2 years ago i didn’t even know how to code!
What we learned
Don’t use the latest version of a new technology immediately because there are a lack of resources available online teaching you how to use, and other pieces of software might not support it.
What's next for Safe Haven
We seriously hope that such a service will become available for secondary school teens soon, and we would be glad to offer our thoughts and technical guidance on it
