Inspiration
We started off wanting to make a game, but were not sure what type to build. Eventually we decided to create something that contained elements of some the most popular nostalgic games such as Pokémon and StreetFighter.
What it does
It is a 2d Fighter game that is turn based, with customizable attributes for health, attack, and defense.
How I built it
The game was originally built to be in Java, but we ended up making it a a terminal based text game in C++ as we ran into some challenges.
Challenges I ran into
We were quite shorthanded, as two out of the four team members were unable to participate. We also ran into rendering issues with Java which led us to pivoting to C++ instead
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
We were able to complete a considerable amount, considering we were only two people. I'm also proud of the fact that we didn't abandon the project once we ran into issues with Java.
What I learned
This was my first experience with game development, so I was able to learn a lot more about the field and gain much more appreciation for it.
What's next for Rose Fighters
Next would be fixing errors in Java so that it is playable as a 2d Game with Sprites and animations.
