Inspiration

In today’s fast-paced environment, restaurants and service areas often face challenges like slow service, high labor costs, and lack of cleanliness. We were inspired to create a smart solution that can automate serving tasks while also maintaining hygiene. This idea led us to design an IoT-based waiter robot that can assist humans efficiently.

What it does

Our project, "servonix", is a smart waiter robot that can deliver food using a tray while also cleaning the floor using a built-in vacuum system. It is equipped with sensors for obstacle detection, allowing it to move safely in crowded environments. The robot can move forward and backward using programmed instructions and can be further enhanced with IoT features for remote control.

How we built it

We designed the concept using embedded systems and basic robotics principles. The robot uses a microcontroller programmed in C/C++ to control movement. Ultrasonic sensors are used for obstacle detection, and DC motors help in movement. The vacuum mechanism is integrated at the bottom for cleaning. The system can be extended with IoT modules like ESP8266 for smart connectivity.

Challenges we ran into

One of the main challenges was designing a system that can perform multiple tasks such as serving and cleaning simultaneously. Another challenge was ensuring smooth navigation and obstacle detection. Since this is a conceptual stage, integrating all components efficiently in a real-world prototype will require careful design and testing.

What we learned

Through this project, we learned about robotics, sensor integration, and IoT-based systems. We also improved our problem-solving skills and understood how automation can improve real-world services.

Future scope

In the future, we plan to enhance the robot with AI-based navigation, voice control, mobile app integration, and better efficiency. This can be widely used in restaurants, hospitals, and hotels for smart and contactless service.

Impact

This project can help reduce human effort, improve service speed, and maintain hygiene standards. It represents a step towards smart automation in everyday life.
