Inspiration
- People donate more to charities with transparency
- We are looking to encourage donations by allowing donors to view the impact their support has
What it does
- Web application that acts as a hub for the donors to view the effect of their support directly.
- Donations have unique identifiers that can be tracked
- The donor will see directly which event or activity they have supported
How we built it
- We used a combination of HTML, JavaScript and CSS all connecting to our database on PHPMyAdmin, using PHP
- The Database updates when the staff fund an event and takes from the oldest donation
- This in future will update our donor page so that the donor can view their impact (the visualisation of this is shown in the donor folder)
Challenges we ran into
- Using PHP in tandem with Javascript was hard to debug as this combination was relatively new
- We tried to split files for easier reading and better functionality but ended up making it more difficult!
- The time constraint (obviously!) was a challenge!
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- We are proud our concept and our attemt at implementation
- This project is a similar size to something we had at least a month to complete, so carrying over that knowledge was rewarding
What we learned
- We learned that our strengths lie in different areas of programming
- This is our first hackathon so we have learned how to manage our time
What's next for Ripple
- Full implementation
- Smoother backend
