Inspiration

Poorly written emails can lead to confusion and misunderstandings and negatively impact relationships. It can get tedious to craft professional emails. We've come together for this hackathon - to make Write-it-right, an AI-powered writing tool that can unburden humans from the monotonous, saving time and effort.

What it does

With Write-It-Right, users will have access to a variety of features that will assist them in crafting clear and concise messages while also ensuring that the tone and context are appropriate for the intended audience. Users can also efficiently write emails like a pro. This project will help improve communication and productivity and would be an excellent asset for any individual or business. Whether it's an email to a recruiter, coworker, boss, or an old friend - Write-It-Right can help you breeze through emails.

How we built it

The project was built using a combination of Cohere, Streamlit, Python, HTML, and CSS. This project aims to create a seamless and intuitive user experience by utilizing the Cohere Generate API for intelligent text generation. We've carefully crafted a prompt with various examples for email rewriting.

We leveraged the flexibility and capabilities of Streamlit to design the front end. We also used HTML and CSS to make the webpage visually appealing. The app is deployed on Streamlit Cloud, integrated with Github.

Use of conversational AI

The "Write it Right" project uses a conversational AI - the Cohere generate endpoint and is implemented in Python. The system utilizes natural language processing techniques to understand the user's input and provide relevant feedback, allowing users to become more confident in their writing abilities. Additionally, the system can integrate with other tools; overall, the "Write it Right" project leverages conversational AI's power to enhance users' writing experience.

Challenges we ran into

We encountered several challenges in completing our project; for example, most of us were beginners. Our initial goal was to make a full-fledged browser extension with inline suggestions in the email window. However, given the short nature of the hackathon, we ultimately pivoted to a simple web application.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are happy to have come up with a useful application (If not anyone else, we are customer 0 for our app!). We're also proud of completing a fully functional web app within 24 hours.

What we learned

Completing this project has been a valuable learning experience for all of us. Our prior learning has been the challenges in creating a good browser extension and the importance of working on the correct problem statement.
