Inspiration
As teens, social media regularly encourages us to follow new trends and buy more products. With fast fashion constantly being pushed to us, the hidden effects of it are not talked about enough. We created this website to bring awareness to sustainability and the problems in clothing.
What it does
Rethreaded takes input from the user of the materials their clothing is made out of. Based on those percentages, the website uses ai to give an analysis of the effects the production had on the environment. This gives insight to user about where their clothing is coming from as well as persuades them to be more mindful of how much and what clothing they buy.
How we built it
We built Rethreaded with VS Code and an Open AI API. We created a a home page and info page with html and css and then used python as well for the API page.
Challenges we ran into
Using an API was new to us so we struggled a lot on how to use it and how to design the page after that as well. We also originally were stuck on how we’d take input form the user but finally decided on the percentages of materials as it would be the most achievable.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We’re proud of how our project turned out. It’s very pleasing to the eyes and is actually functional.
What's next for Rethreaded
We hope to add in more features such as alternates for clothing and maybe even thrift options nearby. If we can we’d also like to figure out how to do our original plan of scanning the clothes or tags for the materials and what country it’s from.
