Inspiration
We've all experienced that frustrating moment—standing in front of a packed closet, staring at dozens of clothing items, and thinking "I have nothing to wear." But the real problem isn't what we lack; it's what we can't see.
The statistics are staggering: the average American buys 68 new clothing items per year, yet wears only 20% of their wardrobe regularly. Meanwhile, 85% of textiles end up in landfills, making the fashion industry the second-largest polluter globally. We're caught in an endless cycle of overconsumption—not because we genuinely need more clothes, but because we've lost sight of the potential in what we already own.
Our team was inspired by a simple question: What if the solution to fashion's environmental crisis isn't making better new clothes, but making better use of what already exists? We wanted to build a tool that makes sustainable fashion choices not just possible, but easy—even easier than buying new.
What It Does
Restyle is an AI-powered sustainable fashion companion that transforms how you interact with your wardrobe and your community.
How we built it
We used react-native for the bulk of our project. We combined a custom Microsoft's Copilot AI Agent to be featured in the app along with a demo subproject of how local thrift shops can integrate with our app!
