Inspiration
We are all students in AP Environmental Science and wanted to ease the process of running sustainability initiatives in your local area. To accomplish this, we created EcoCollab.
What it does
EcoCollab is a social media website catered for those interested in running or volunteering for environmental initiatives. Whether you are an organization, or a high schooler looking for service hours, this site is for you. EcoCollab contains the full collection of features you can find on a social media site, from being able to search posts to creating and managing posts, and we also provide information on potential initiatives to start.
Challenges
-Compliance with the CORS (Cross-origin resource sharing) policy
-Hosting website on a server with no errors
-Converting images into a format that can be stored easily
-Adapting to mobile support
How we built it
We used React.js and Tailwind CSS for the webpage, and to save data, we used mongoDB which was written to using mongoose. We used VS Code's Live-share feature to collaborate.
What's next for EcoCollab
In the future, we hope to implement a fully functional donation system embedded directly into our website.
