Inspiration

I felt a lack of online community of Drivers and Truckers, that can empower them to help each other while on road.

What it does

Rescue-Shark is the first step towards creation of such a community. It's an easy two-step process to register yourself into the services and an easy one click process to call out for help to the community. The project has been made keeping in mind, Ford's goal to enhance and improve drivers' experience.

How we built it

We used Twilio's WhatsApp API to create a quick SOS messaging service. The project is Flask based and was hosted on the local server as shown in the demo.

Challenges we ran into

It was my first time hands-on with Flask and it took a chunk of time to get my head around it. I found difficulties in using OBS Studio for demo-creation and hence, had to host the website on a local server to use my phone's screen recording service.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

*Successfully used Flask and Twilio's API *Created an easy, hassle-free and light weight service which alerts the community in a matter of seconds.

What we learned

This was my first-hackathon and hence a great learning experience. I learnt how to use APIs in Python and Flask.

What's next for Rescue-Shark

Looking forward to include more developers to improve web-design. Also, planning to include a Geo-location API which will enable users to quickly share their location with the community. An online help-bot is under development.
