Project Summary

TokenSnap is a decentralized platform that empowers creatives to protect, control, and monetize their digital likeness using Web3 and AI.

Inspiration

The 2023 entertainment industry strikes highlighted a critical issue: actors and artists are losing control over their digital likenesses, which are often scanned and used in perpetuity without fair compensation. As a Supporting Artist who has been digitally scanned multiple times, I was inspired to create a solution that puts control back into the hands of the individual. Our mission is to build a platform where creatives can securely manage their AI-driven digital identities.

What It Does

We are developing a mobile app where users can:

Mint their Likeness as an NFT: Using a Solana-compatible wallet, users can upload personal data (like a photo) to create and own a unique NFT collection representing their digital identity.
Create an Interactive AI Replica: This NFT data is used to generate a personal AI replica that can interact with others.

The ultimate goal is to provide a framework for users to manage usage rights and monetize both their NFT collection and its corresponding AI, ensuring they have full control over their digital likeness.

How We Built It & Current Status

We used dev.fun for rapid "vibe-coding" to build a proof-of-concept that registers a user's likeness on the blockchain. We also experimented with Holoworld/Solana to create AI-driven personalities.

Our current goal is to integrate these separate components into a single, functional product. We have successfully registered likenesses as tokens and experimented with smart contracts and AI persona creation. We are now seeking mentorship, industry connections, and advice to bring the project to market.

Challenges & Learnings

Development: Using an LLM for "vibe-coding" was a great learning experience for rapid prototyping, but it was sometimes challenging to align the output with our precise vision.
AI Fidelity: The AI replica can occasionally "hallucinate" or invent details if not given explicit information. We found a balance by allowing some creative storytelling, which makes the persona more engaging.

Key Learnings: We've confirmed that AI is an incredibly powerful tool for both prototyping and compelling storytelling.

Accomplishments

We received an Honourable Mention for TokenSnap at the AI3 Hackathon.

Our proudest moment was testing the AI persona of a Supporting Artist, which accurately mirrored my real-life experiences on film sets.

What's Next

Our immediate goal is to finalize and launch the product. To achieve this and ensure its success, our roadmap focuses on:

Strategic Partnerships: We need to connect with production studios, game developers, talent agencies, unions, and entertainment lawyers to build a viable industry standard.
Expert Mentorship: We are actively seeking guidance from leaders in Web3, AI, and copyright law, particularly within the creative industries.
Adoption: We will leverage our existing connections with supporting artists to secure early adopters and build momentum.

We believe this platform is a necessary step in protecting creative rights in the age of AI and are looking for the right partners to help us make it a reality.
