Inspiration

Sometimes it is hard to tell whether you are getting a good job offer. Too many factors: salary, benefits, terms. The whole system has become confusing and actually harmful. Workers can become easily underpaid and we aim to help people get what they truly deserve -- good job offers.

What it does

Renegent is an intelligent job offer analysis platform that empowers professionals to make data-driven career decisions. Users can input multiple job offers in the form of a pdf, and our system automatically extracts and analyzes key components including base salary, benefits packages, equity options, work-life balance indicators, company culture metrics, and growth opportunities. The platform generates comprehensive comparison reports, highlighting strengths and weaknesses of each offer while providing personalized recommendations based on individual career goals and priorities. Beyond simple numerical comparisons, Renegent offers contextual insights about market standards, industry benchmarks, and long-term career trajectory implications for each opportunity.

How we built it

We used React and TailwindCSS for the frontend and used Trigger, Perplexity's Sonar model, and NextJS for the backend.

Challenges we ran into

Actually, development was smooth. Legal compliance was somewhat difficult though. Making sure we are complying with NDAs, company policy, and giving negotiation advice were all topics we had to research in order to make sure we were following the law.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

This was the first time we had ever used trigger.dev, a cloud functions platform. I have to say, I am pleasantly surprised with how great it was to work with. Overall, great experience and I learned something new I will probably be using heavily in the future.

What we learned

Repeating a little bit of what we said above, trigger.dev was completely new to us. Heard about it from a friend and it was fun to learn and made our lives a little bit easier.

What's next for Renegent

Hopefully going to develop Renegent into a full SaaS! We are also going to continue using Sonar as our model of choice (you're welcome, you earned a new API customer).
