====================RemindRx: Smart Medicine Reminder====================

Inspiration:

We were inspired by the struggles of elderly individuals and chronic disease patients who often forget to take their medications on time. Studies show that nearly 50% of patients do not adhere to their prescribed schedules, leading to severe health complications. Existing solutions like phone alarms or pillboxes are either too complex or easy to ignore. We wanted to create a simple, reliable, and accessible reminder system that ensures no dose is missed.

What It Does:

RemindRx is a smart wearable + app that delivers voice alerts and vibration notifications at scheduled medication times. Key features: ✔ Spoken reminders (Text-to-Speech) for clear instructions. ✔ Vibration alerts for hearing-impaired users. ✔ Caregiver notifications via Firebase if a dose is missed. ✔ Elder-friendly interface with large buttons and intuitive controls.

How We Built It:-

  1. Hardware: Arduino/Raspberry Pi (MCU)

    Vibration motor (for tactile alerts)

    Speaker (TTS voice reminders)

    Rechargeable battery

  2. Software: Firebase Realtime Database (stores medication schedules)

Text-to-Speech (TTS) Engine (converts text into spoken alerts)

Mobile App (Flutter/React Native) for schedule setup

3.Workflow: User/caregiver sets schedule via app.

Data syncs with Firebase.

At the scheduled time, device triggers voice + vibration alerts.

If dose is missed, caregiver receives a notification.

Challenges We Ran Into:

🔴 Hardware-Software Sync – Delays in Firebase real-time updates. 🔴 Power Consumption – Vibration motor drained battery quickly. 🔴 TTS Clarity – Initial robotic voice was hard to understand. 🔴 User Testing – Elderly users struggled with app navigation initially.

Accomplishments We’re Proud Of:

What We Learned:

📌 Hardware is hard – Power management is crucial for wearables. 📌 Simplicity wins – Elderly users preferred fewer buttons and louder audio. 📌 Real-time sync isn’t instant – Firebase sometimes had 2-3 sec delays. 📌 Accessibility matters – Vibration + voice combo ensured no user was left out.

What’s Next for RemindRx:
