Inspiration
There are students and workers that spend countless hours at their desks completing homework assignments and projects. Unfortunately, since the start of the pandemic and the new norm of remote environments, the amount of time people sit at their desks has increased tenfold. Sitting for long periods can lead to back pain and damage physical health in the long run. According to research, people are recommended to only sit for about 30 minutes, yet this number is exceeded all the time.
What it does
Remind A.I. keeps track of when a user is sitting or standing, and if the user has been sitting for a set amount of time, the application will alert them that it's time to get up to take a break. In contrast to many reminder application, Remind A.I. will continuously alert the user to stand until the app has detected that the user is standing.
How I built it
This application was built using Google AutoML, Firebase, and ReactJS.
Challenges I ran into
Implementing an alarm system was difficult as you needed to keep track of how long a user is sitting for and if this length will be interrupted by noise.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
I'm proud that I initiated the first steps of Remind A.I. and I'm eager to make the project a reality for others.
What I learned
Be patient with your project and have a plan before executing.
What's next for Remind A.I
For the next step, I hope to use the Cloud Firestore to collect user data upon their request and track their progress on response time. Having any data to show users is great as they see if they are progressing and responding accordingly.
