Inspiration

We got really inspired after seeing the huge difference in the Hispanic representation in the city council (6%) and Houston (45%).

What it does

It's an algorithm that draws new borderlines between districts to increase the representation of all races and ethnicities in the government.

How we built it

Using an algorithm appending tracts to districts based on demographic similarity.

What's next for Redistricting Houston

• Optimize the algorithm to work faster and compare more combinations of districts at a time
