Inspiration
During a school trip to Japan, one of our group members was part of a group that decided to split up. They went off on their own and lost track of the original meeting point, along with some other classmates, which left them lost in Japan. This experience inspired us to create RenezView, a tool designed to help people navigate large events with ease.
What it does
RendezView is an app designed to help groups navigate large events with ease. It features live tracking and provides mapped-out routes for group members and designated meetup spots marked with map pinpoints.
How we built it
RendezView is a mobile app built with React Native, utilizing a front end that incorporates JavaScript, CSS, HTML, and Google Maps API integration. All data is stored in a MongoDB database.
Challenges we ran into
We encountered several challenges while setting up the environment and integrating React JS or React Native. We had to figure out how to integrate the Google Maps API, learn about API keys, and navigate using React for the first time.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Our team is proud to have learned new, applicable skills such as API integration and framework development. We've also successfully integrated different repositories cohesively while enhancing our UI skills and screen functionality.
What's next for RedezView
What's next for us is creating new features, including prioritizing data and location privacy, implementing a hierarchy access system, enhancing accessibility features, and improving location visibility.
