Inspiration

As fans of RuPaul's Drag Race, we (as in Michelle) wanted to include a LGBTQ+ icon in our project. We noticed how some resources regarding sustainability was difficult to find, especially at UCLA, so we decided to create a fun informative website where RuPaul tells you about sustainability and shows you tips. Also, although there are resources for UCLA students, we wanted to make this website for other younger LGBTQ youth as introducing topics like how to recycle. Making figures like RuPaul teach people these topics is a good introduction to LGBT celebrities and media. We grew up seeing too many white men teach us about everything - RuPaul should be everyone's teacher now.

What it does

It provides the users with tips on how to reuse and reduce, while providing resources to links and companies that will help users be more sustainable.

How we built it

We built it using JS, HTML, CSS, and Bootstrap. We used Git to collaborate and create feature branches.

Challenges we ran into

We ran into problems with consistent styling over our pages. We tried our best to resolve these issues, but could not fully fix them.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of connecting our HTML pages and some styling such as the rainbow cursor, the landing page, and the illustrations.

What we learned

We learned more about frontend development and Git.

What's next for Recycle with RuPaul

We hope to convert our code to React and build a backend.
