Inspiration
We produce hundreds of millions of pounds of waste each year and we wanted to cut down that number by filter what could be recycled, composted, and whats got to be taken care of with special care.
What it does
Recyclable takes an image of an item from the camera on the device you're using and recognizes certain shapes to determine what the object is. From there we can determine what its proper disposal method is.
How we built it
We built a webpage with HTML and CSS and sent our data through the Google CV cloud to recognize images.
Challenges we ran into
We ran into problems with the Google CV cloud and responding back with information we needed.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud to have been able to find a method to determine the disposal method of items since it is pretty difficult to identify certain objects with a certain accuracy.
What we learned
Recyclable is our first dabble with the Google Cloud Development and we learned a lot about sending and receiving data and how to process it.
What's next for Recyclable
We plan to improve the accuracy of the object identification.
