Inspiration

Driven by a passion for resolving the inefficiencies in community communication and addressing the lack of digital infrastructure, I embarked on a journey to create a solution during this opportune hackathon.

What it does

This web app allows you to interact with your community through donations towards the community, chats with other members, announcements posted by the heads, democratic elections for leadership, a platform for valuable feedback, and a comprehensive information hub.

How we built it

The project was first designed on Figma, which took a few days. Then, using Vue.js for the front-end and Firebase for the back-end, I developed the final web app.

Challenges we ran into

During the project, I encountered two significant challenges: responsiveness and authentication. Integrating an email/password system with Google OAuth for the registration page proved particularly challenging. Additionally, enabling full functionality of certain features across various devices presented another hurdle.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I'm proud to have been able to learn so many new web development tools and integrate them into my project in such a short period of time. This was the first project I designed before building, as well as the first project I checked responsiveness for while building.

What we learned

The journey of creating Recom has been a profound learning experience, equipping me with valuable skills in Vue.js, Firebase, and Figma, enhancing my expertise in the realm of web development.

What's next for Recom

In my ongoing quest to enhance Recom, my focus lies on refining existing features, such as the donation system, while setting my sights on the crucial addition of a new and impactful feature - Trading.
