Prompt

Design an app or service directed at being useful towards a college student.

Inspiration

It is no secret that most college student budgets are tight. This means they have to resort to cheap meals like instant ramen. I wanted to create a service to "elevate" instant ramen by offering variating recipes.

What it does

Ramen.ly is a website where anyone (not just college students) can find unique recipes based around instant ramen.

How I built it

I did all of my coding on Qoom. They had code available to help me with the login system and survey system. I also used an automated poll from Opinion Stage. I tweaked some code from Federico Dossena to create a button. Graphics are from FreePik Flaticon and Pexels. Recipes are from Great Big Story, Kylie Jenner, and myself!

Challenges I ran into

I had some trouble with the JavaScript as it's not my strong suit. I also ran into some trouble with formatting using CSS.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

I'm proud of being able to bring my vision to life, especially using a brand new platform. This is also my first hackathon, so I'm proud that I've actually created something. This is very memorable.

What I've learned

I've learned that not everything will go your way, and you need to adapt. I would still be stuck on multiple things if I wasn't flexible with my work.

What's next for Ramen.ly

Ramen.ly doesn't have to be just about ramen! With time, I hope to add more affordable recipes. It could become Recipe.ly? We'll see!
