Inspiration
I am a Data Scientist and Software Developer, so I love working with data. However, I am missing crucial subject matter expertise to help with the current CoVid-19 pandemy. The only thing I can do is to help those subject matter experts to have an easier access to data. Many epidemiologists and bio statisticians work either with R or Python. So I tried to help those, who can make a difference.
What it does
The R and Python libs crawls and prepares the latest CoVid-19 data on the spread in Germany. With two lines of code, researchers get the latest data, which is already prepared for data analysis.
How I built it
For R I developed an R package and for Python a library.
What's next for R + Python APIs for CoVid-19 Data
At the moment, the users have to download the package and libs from GitHub, which is not super nice. I already started the preparations to publish the code to the CRAN (central R package repository) and PyPi (central Python repository). In addition, I will continue to extend the libs, so they are even more easy to use.
