Inspiration
During COVID-19, I was at my lowest and I read a quote online and I discover how quotes are so magical and motivating. Simple phrases and words can change anyone's day at any given time.
Brooklyn Tech is a huge "organization" as it holds the foundation of 6000 students. However, due to the competitiveness and geniuses at the school, many students have faced mental health issues and death-defying circumstances that need to stop.
What it does
It simply outputs one of my original written quotes onto the screen whenever a user refresh or opens up the page.
How we built it
It was built via HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
Challenges we ran into
Had only two hours to generate an idea and submit all requirements. Had scheduling conflicts left and right with work, family, and other various reasons. Not to mention, Spring Break took away a lot of my time from coding as I had to spend it in other activities other than coding all day on non-break days like school days and work days.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Despite only having two hours to spare, I was able to still put in an original project of mine that just came out of the blue on my train back home. Although not the best, I was glad I was able to put something that had a foundation to it.
Many other websites that generate quotes have a lot of mushy and unnecessary text that can overwhelm the user but on our website, it is simply a smiley face, a cool title, and the quote itself.
What we learned
Even with the toughest constraints and conditions, you can still pull off something and it was fun making something that I usually would not have the time to make.
What's next for Quote Overflow
Developing the website to a more professional and elevated position. This can include a coffee chat scheduling assistant for you and your friends. A chatGPT bot that assists you with your health. An AI that scans for pneumonia in X-rays and this is just to name a few on how this website should have been.
