Introduction
Education plays a pivotal role in shaping our future, and we believe that making it fun and interactive is the key to unlocking every student's potential. With QuiziVerse, we have created an exciting platform that combines learning and gaming, creating an environment that fosters knowledge while also rewarding students.
Inspiration
One of our teammates noticed in his class that many students are not engaged in learning because of the way it is taught. Chalk and blackboard many not be the best for everyone. Being one of these students, he noticed that if the classroom had more interactive lesson and the material was taught interactively he would learn much more. Moreover, with the rising dependency on technology, the attention span of school going kids has reduced tremendously when it comes to focusing on things that are not displayed on a screen. Statistics say that,
- Experts say that since the beginning of COVID, it’s deeply affected students around the globe both mentally and physically.
In fact, its shifted attention spans so much and made it easier for people to soak in short-form content rather than long-form. - The average person spends approximately 26 hours per month on TikTok, and opens the app around 9 times every day! Over a whole lifetime, users can spend as much as 2 and a half years on the app.
Instead of aimlessly scrolling through TikTok and other social media apps just as a force of habit of being on their phones, students can utilize the same time on learning in a fun manner. That is why we created QuiziVerse for students that do not like how school is taught and for students that like to game and spend time on their smartphones.
What it does
QuiziVerse combines learning and gaming with an integrated point-based reward system. Each correct answer earns the student points that they can accumulate and exchange for raffle tokens. These tokens give them a chance to win exciting prizes, such as educational books, gift cards, and technological devices. Furthermore there will be targeted ads where 50% of the money collected will be used to fund prizes while the other 50 will be donated to NGOs that help students in poverty be educated. Users can also choose to donate all their points for this cause.
By integrating rewards into the learning process, QuiziVerse not only motivates students to actively participate but also cultivates healthy competition among peers. It instills a sense of achievement and progress, reinforcing the desire to learn and excel.
To ensure accessibility for all students, we have designed QuiziVerse to be compatible with various devices, including smartphones, tablets, and laptops. This way, students can engage with the platform from anywhere, anytime, providing a seamless learning experience both in and out of the classroom environment.
In conclusion, QuiziVerse brings together the excitement of gaming and the importance of education. We firmly believe that by gamifying learning, we can inspire students to become lifelong learners and have a passion and eagerness to succeed.
How we built it
To create the QuiziVerse platform, we used scratch to make a game model or a backend, and Figma for UI and frontend.
Challenges we ran into
Deciding on the correct approach to build the gaming platform as well as finishing the Figma prototype within the stipulated time were a few challenges that we ran into.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
The accomplishment that we are most proud of is our coordination and our ability to tackle all the hurdles together even though we teamed up without knowing each other on the first day of the hackathon itself.
What we learned
Through working on Quizverse together we learned the importance of different programs and their capabilities. We tested out numerous sites to find the best for our website and Scratch was the best option. Each language offers limitations and capabilities unique to itself and by working on this project we learned the depths that each site could go.
What's next for QuiziVerse
In the future we are planning to add an adaptive learning algorithm that adjusts quiz difficulty to match each student's knowledge level, providing a personalized and balanced challenge and a worldwide leaderboard system to show a sense of competition and eagerness to learn more
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to Hack JPS and the judges for providing us with this incredible opportunity to present our solution, Quiziverse. We are grateful for this platform to share our vision of gamifying education and empowering students through interactive quizzes. With this hackathon being some of our first, HACK JPS has motivated us to continue to participate in such events and pursue coding and tech in the future. Thank you for your time, attention, and consideration.
