Quizbo is a robot that encourages learning and discourages naiveté via reward and punishment. For answering correctly, users are rewarded with a single dispensed piece of candy. For answering incorrectly, users get an electric shock to the hand through the input buttons. She was born out of the idea that it's funny to shock people and sarcastically give away single candies as prizes.
The two main features took a lot of time and calibration. We designed and built the electro-shocking and candy-giving mechanisms out of a hodgepodge of materials. She was mostly built from materials we happened to have on hand. e.g., a wooden dowel, a couple 9-Volts, a pencil case, LEDs, and a box of TicTacs.
The quiz is a ton of fun, with questions that were scientifically designed to stimulate your neural synapses and test the mettle of your knowledge.
Additionally, at the end of your quiz, through the magic of Interactive Intelligence's baller API, Quizbo will call you and seductively tell you your score.
