Inspiration
QuikGames was inspired by bored and stressed out individuals that need a way to cool down or to simply pass time. Studies have shown that children ages 12 to 17 who are frequently bored are 50% more likely to smoke, drink, or use illegal drugs to satisfy their bore or even de-stress. Our goal is to make a website that helps people to take a small break between long hours of working or coding in a non-addictive but fun manner.
What it does
QuikGames is a website that hosts a collection of small games for users to play when they need to destress or even pass time. Some of the games include, Simon (memory game), Hangman, Maze, Rock Paper Scissors, Guess the Number and even tic-tac-toe!
How we built it
This project was built from Java, JavaScript, HTML, CSS and Bootstrap.
Challenges we ran into
- Learning JavaScript in a short amount of time because JavaScript is better to use when creating web based games
- Making sure the games were running considering that we were making a collection of games in a short amount of time
- Coming up with game ideas
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- We were able to build several simple games in a short amount of time, and explored the various methods in which we could make games
- Being able to switch from Java to JavaScript when uploading them to our website
What we learned
We learned that oftentimes technical complications, such as a deficiency in computer storage or a missing button in a programming studio, can severely hinder the development of a computer application.
What's next for QuikGames
We plan to add new games to our website and expand on existing ones, perhaps by adding better graphics, animation and more challenging levels to our games.
