Inspiration
Creating a language quizzing app as both of us in the team enjoy learning new languages, and are currently taking language mods.
What it does
How we built it
We aimed to quickly create our deploy, using a tech stack of Next.js and Pocketbase.
Challenges we ran into
Zheng Jing: Our decision to use normal Javascript instead of Typescript helped to speed up the initial project development, but showed some problems later on when I was setting up the backend as the lack of type checking caused me difficulty debugging my backend API entry creations.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Creating a simplistic yet beautiful website with full functionality in a span of 24 hours. Zheng Jing: I was happy to be able to improve from my previous attempt at Hack'n'Roll 23 last year.
- This time, I managed to setup the database, authentication, middlewares in half an hour which I credit to learning Pocketbase for my personal website development.
- Creating initial website mock ups on Figma in the early stage of the hackathon.
- Implementing most of the website's UI design and pages using Tailwind
- Binding together most of the completion logic, binding seamlessly with the backend when creating entries. ## What we learned How to use OpenAI's amazing API! ## What's next for QuattroLingo Creating a better website UI, supporting uploading of documents for the tutor to quiz you on!
