Inspiration
Our inspiration was drawn from the realization of the neglect of community infrastructure, as well as the lack of effort and communication put into fixing these issues. Members of the community feel as though the problems they face are unique to themselves, and therefore don't raise these issues; however, the opposite is true. Taking inspiration from popular social media apps such as Instagram and Reddit, we wanted to make an app that would bridge the gap between communication from individuals within a community to create a better place to live.
What it does
This app connects the community by providing a platform for people to spread awareness about issues in community infrastructure. Users can post images of issues such as potholes or broken structures in order to not only bring a sense of urgency to the city but also raise funds to implement solutions.
How we built it
We designed this app using the software proto.io and HTML language.
Challenges we ran into
The software we used featured outdated tutorials, with complex logical operators. Since half of our team knew Javascript, we attempted to find plugins that connected our ideas to our website in order to make front-end functions simpler, and finally, we navigated our way around the logical-operating blocks native to proto.io.
