Inspiration
Inspired from a passed experience at workplaces where business card is still a physical paper, combining the touchless QR technology, our E-Biz Card was born.
What it does
The Android Mobile App allows users to upload different business cards into a bucket and store its information (API links) in Cloud Storage. It then uses the link to generate a QR code that could be accessible on an android/iOS phone.
How we built it
We built the QR code generator via Java on Android Studio, creating business cards from scratch using html and css via Visual Code studio, converting the code into a pdf/jpeg/png file which could then be uploaded to Google Cloud Storage bucket. We then enable public access to our public URL API that could allow anyone to access the business cards.
Challenges we ran into
As none of us has any past experiences with generating QR code, Android Studio and Google Cloud Platform - Cloud Storage, it was a learning curve for all of us. We picked up everything from the very beginning and try our best to link them all together.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are all delighted with the materials we picked up in less than 12 hours individually and collectively. Google Cloud Storage has opened our eyes with its amazing functionality that help us hosts our site.
What we learned
It was a great achievement to learn how to build a small android app and navigating around Google Cloud Platform.
What's next for QR Crew
We hope to implement a database for our project, ideally a Firebase database that could store multiple QR codes and expanding it for different businesses.
