purple.ai

Inspiration

Our inspiration is based on the application, Poe by Quora. This application allows users to interact with several AIs all in one location. Our twist is that it's easier to get the best-suited answer for you by using our AI, purple.ai, which analyzes and chooses the best one.

What it does

Purple.ai accepts a user's text-based prompt and creates the perfect response for the prompt based on the answers of other LLMs. If a user would rather use a specific AI model, they have to choose to do so by using our simple dropdown options.

How we built it

We used Next.js, Tailwind CSS, MongoDB, React, and LLMs (ChatGPT, Llama, and Claude). Together (with the use of APIs), we were able to create purple.ai.

Challenges we ran into

We had issues with Vercel at some point and were unable to continue to host our site for the remainder of our event. We also were not able to use all of the LLMs we wanted to (Command R), and had some trouble getting them to connect as we wanted them to. Also, one of our teammates felt sick and had to go home on the first day.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of our teamwork and collaboration over these few days! It is difficult to use technologies we are not familiar with in such a short timeframe. We had one frontend and she did a great job creating the theme and UI in under 24 hours. We had two backends who worked tirelessly to put together the LLMs and create purple.ai. They did a lot of research and experimenting with LLMs, algorithms, and the database to get to where we are.

What we learned

We learned how to communicate and collaborate very well under strenuous conditions. We did a great job of splitting up tasks and doing our best to do our parts. The two backend roles learned a lot more about LLMs and algorithms, and the frontend learned more about Tailwind CSS and TypeScript when creating components.

What's next for purple.ai

If we decided to continue purple.ai, we would implement a payment system where users would be able to use different versions of LLMs for credit. We would continue to branch out with different LLMs and further improve our AI to bring out the best for everyone.
