Inspiration
PulsePal was inspired by Sarah's challenges as a devoted parent managing her child's health. Like Sarah, many face scattered medical records, struggle to find specialists, and seek immediate first aid solutions. PulsePal emerged to streamline these hurdles, offering centralized record-keeping, personalized specialist connections, instant first aid guidance, and a supportive community. It aims to alleviate the stress Sarah faces, extending its benefits to everyone, making healthcare management seamless, personalized, and inclusive for all.
What it does
Secure Medical Record Storage:
Users can securely store their medical records using decentralized identifiers (DIDs) in the app.
Data stored through decentralized web nodes (DWNs) ensures security and user ownership.
Connect with Similar Medical Conditions:
An algorithm will match users based on their medical records, enabling them to chat and connect.
Users can share experiences, insights, and support each other within the platform.
Home Remedies Section:
Users can contribute and share simple, effective home remedies.
Remedies will be rated by users to gauge their usefulness.
User Authentication and Management:
Implementation of DID authentication for secure user access and data management.
User-friendly interface for managing credentials and accessing the app's features.
Recommend specialized doctors in your nearby areas, based on your current location
How we built it
User Profile Creation:
Utilizing the Web5 SDK, our platform offers users the capability to establish a personalized 'profile.' This profile serves as a secure and unique identity within our decentralized web ecosystem.
Secure Medical Records Upload:
We have implemented robust security measures enabling users to confidently upload their medical records to their decentralized web network (DWN) via our platform. This ensures the privacy and integrity of sensitive health information.
Condition-Based Connection:
Through our platform, users gain the ability to connect with others who share similar medical conditions. Leveraging the decentralized nature of Web5, this feature facilitates a secure and privacy-focused means of discovering and establishing connections with others.
Home Remedies Section:
We built this feature using Web5 DID and DWN . First, users fill out a simple form to share their remedy info, and it's securely stored in their DWN. When they log in they will have their unique identifier i.e DID via which they can see the remedies. Only authenticated users can add remedies for security. For rating remedies, users just go to the "View Remedy" section and click to rate.
Recommend specialized doctors in your nearby areas, based on your current location:
To make it work, we have used Google Maps Places API. First, we find out where you are using geolocation – that's just figuring out your current spot. Once we know that, we connect to the Google Maps Places API to get the nearby doctors and hospitals using Nearby Search. You not only get their addresses but also see how they're rated.
Challenges we ran into
During the development of PulsePal, we encountered several challenges that required innovative solutions. One significant hurdle was designing a secure and user-friendly platform for centralized health record management. Ensuring robust data security while maintaining seamless accessibility for users posed a complex balance.
Another challenge revolved around developing algorithms to provide personalized specialist recommendations. Tailoring these recommendations based on diverse health needs and geographical locations demanded extensive research and fine-tuning to deliver accurate results.
Additionally, curating a comprehensive database of verified remedies while ensuring ease of access and relevance to various health concerns was a meticulous process requiring continuous updates and validation.
Lastly, fostering an interactive and supportive community within the app was a unique challenge. Creating a space where users could connect, share experiences, and offer mutual support required careful platform design and moderation to ensure a safe and inclusive environment for all users.
