Inspiration

Emergency departments often learn what’s coming only when the ambulance pulls in—and paramedics lose time typing vitals. We wanted hospitals to see real patient data before arrival.

What it does

Pulse connects an EMS webcam to an ER dashboard: you point the camera at a monitor or vitals screen, AI reads it, and the hospital gets live vitals, risk scores, and ETAs instantly. No manual data entry, just aim and stream. This not only allows hospital staff to better identify issues, but to better allocate resources onto incoming patients.

How we built it

We used Claude Vision (and Gemini as a fallback) to extract vitals from images, Node + Socket.IO for real-time updates, and simple HTML/JS for both sides. A focused JSON prompt keeps parsing reliable, and GPS adds live ETAs to Vancouver General.
