Inspiration

We were inspired by the format and intractability of the quizzes that Buzzfeed creates, and wanted to make a website that did a similar thing but for mental health, while also educating the user at the same time.

What it does

Our project has many different important aspects to it that all relate to benefiting and supporting the user. First up is the quiz, that asks nine different questions that relate to the users habits and lifestyle. The program then evaluates the users answers and matches them up with one of our 8 researched mental illnesses. After getting your results, there is also two other tabs, one that gives a detailed description of the 8 mental illnesses so you can learn more about them in a fun, and interactive way, and the other tab, which provides a bunch of resources that are their to aid the user in taking the next step to get the help they need.

How we built it

We used VS code with web design languages of CSS, Java, and HTML.

Challenges we ran into

Some challenges that we ran into was with some of the website function, as there were a few aspects like the upper bar, and the flashcards for each mental illness, that we didn't know exactly how to do, and had to research. There were a few communication bits as well when developing the code, and we had to figure out a way to come up with the format that would work in the end.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of our overall idea, as we like what we have done, and feel like it is an idea that can be beneficial to users. We also our proud of the research that we did, as it was very effective, and the overall design as it fits the vibe that we are going for.

What we learned

We learned a lot about the different mental illnesses that we focused on. We also all learned more about the programming languages that we used, as some of our team members had very little to no experience with HTML, JS and CSS, so we taught each other many skills relating to the it.

What's next for Psych Probe

If we could work on this project more and continue to develop it, we think we would want to have a more professional format for the website, but we still like our overall aesthetic. Also, there is definitely more features that we can incorporate that we had ideas for, which includes more wellness, calming, and other activities that can also aid the user. We just would want to continue to make it a helpful resource that is also a welcoming and safe place that people can go to get the help they need.
