Inspiration
Our inspiration for this product was actually from our personal lives. We saw a problem of how confused we were about finding a product that fit all our criteria. Search engines indeed hlp us find a product, but it's a hassle looking through thousands of options. We wanted to make a fun and simple user experience by using a swipe feature that allows them to choose from two options about a product that they desire. Have fun with the application!
What it does
Our application is a solution to finding a product that you, the user, search for in our system. Once you search for the product of your preference, the fun begins! The user is allowed to swipe left or right on options that specify that product. For example: searched up lipstick? great, now choose from matte or glossy and so on. Our feature of swiping options allows users to be engaged with the app more than ever. Give it a try!
How we built it
We decided our group will be split from backend and frontend development. Our application is designed for any user to understand how it works. With amazing visuals and directions helping the user with the process, we believe that the use of visuals and organization of these visuals were key. On the backend, We program the app with the use of linked lists to store the preferred qualities of a product. With the use of Wakefern’s API, we get to design an application that allows users to select from any product they desire.
Challenges we ran into
Some challenges we ran into is the design of our application and somewhat of the backend development aspect as well. We needed to create a simplistic way of explaining to our users how the application works. We need to find a way to explain to the users the functionality of the application without disengaging them. We believe that programming the backend side was a challenge as there were many components that the application needed to fulfill such as swiping, and conditionals because we need to scale down to one product that the user can purchase.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I believe we grew as a company from our challenges. We created a solution to a problem that helps people find a product that fits their needs. We were able to present our application effectively through the accessibility and simplicity of our design. Not only this, we were able to work with the backend and find a way for people to have an enjoyable experience with the application.
What we learned
We learned that interaction with our users is key to growing a successful mobile application. Feedback is necessary for us to curate a better experience for our users. We have also learned how to engage with user experience and find ways to make the application more enjoyable.
What's next for Project
We believe there are many opportunities for our application to grow. We are in the works of creating a better user experience and a faster way to find a product of your choosing.
