Inspiration
Have you ever come across a situation where you've had a car breakdown in the middle of nowhere? Have you ever had to wait for hours for a mechanic to arrive? Have you ever had to pay a hefty amount for a mechanic to come to your rescue?
Well, we have. And we know how frustrating it can be.
So, we present to you our car dashboard cum webapp MotorMate for all your last-minute road trip needs.
What it does
Our car dashboard themed webapp is designed to help any motorist with nearby road emergency services like Flat tyre, towing services, Fuel/EV stations etc. Our app stores data of such nearby local service providers and is served to the user based on his/her live location collected through Maps.
How we built it
We built it using the React, Angular Firebase and OpenStreetMap API. We have also added a personalized 3D model of a car inspired by the user's settings in the dashboard using three.js and WebGL for an enriching UI experience.
Challenges we ran into
Implementing the Map to get live location and filter results based on the user's live location.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of successfully rendering the 3D model of the user's car for a mesmerizing UI experience and implementing the Maps API to fetch live location and pinpoint the location of nearby service providers
What we learned
We learnt new technologies like three.js and Firebase to implement in our project.
What's next for MotorMate
Our next main aim is to make this web-app into a fully usable app on a car's dashboard, so that users can easily use our app from their car's dashboard and use our services efficiently. We also aim to implement live location using Places API in the future which is based on a subscription model.
