Inspiration

Most of our team members are of Hispanic origin, inspiring us to delve into the field of construction. We are aware that many Hispanic people work in this industry.

What it does

We are providing a solution to improve construction workers' mental health by providing a curated survey to analyze the right mental health resources that they need.

How we built it

As a team, we divided into two sub-teams where one sub-team focused on the front-end while the other worked on the back-end aspects. The front-end was built using React.js as well as with CSS scripting. As for the back-end, every piece of data you see on our web-app is stored in MongoDB while using Node.js for the syntax which creates, reads, updates, and deletes data as per the consumer's preferences.

Challenges we ran into

One of the first challenges we ran into was debugging our index.css file, which would not import to other files. We got past this situation by looking at online resources to view the different ways that we could implement the file. Due to the high amount of time it took to resolve this challenge, it would also lead to our second challenge, where we weren't able to create the features we wanted to build.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Creating a solid foundation of ideas by collaborating and spending an extended amount of time planning our project, as well as being able to learn new things quickly.

What we learned

We learned about the demographics/struggles of construction workers, and the importance of mental health overall could improve worker performance and company profits.

What's next for Procure

We will improve upon our current design by enhancing our survey process using Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. We also want to eventually expand the availability of mental health resources to a wider audience of people.
