Inspiration
PNM was inspired by the universal struggle with procrastination that affects students, professionals, and everyday individuals alike. We wanted to create a tool that not only helps manage tasks but also addresses the psychological barriers that delay task initiation and completion.
What it does
PNM is an website that combines time management with behavioral science techniques to help users overcome procrastination. It features a task organizer, a Pomodoro timer, motivational quotes, productivity tips and tricks, and a community-driven accountability system. These tools work together to enhance focus, motivation, and overall productivity.
How we built it
We developed Procrastinate No More using HTML (Hypertext Markup Language), CSS (Cascading Style Sheets), and JavaScript, leveraging the collaborative capabilities of the online platform Glitch. This approach allowed us to quickly prototype and iterate on our designs, facilitating seamless collaboration among our development team in real-time.
Challenges we ran into
One of the primary challenges we faced was ensuring proper formatting across different components of the website. This included adjusting the slideshow to fit various screen sizes appropriately and designing buttons that were not only aesthetically pleasing but also functional and of the right size for easy interaction.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are particularly proud of achieving the desired aesthetic that resonates with our users, creating an engaging and visually appealing interface. Additionally, we successfully implemented a gamification element to the task management process, making daunting tasks more approachable and enjoyable for users, which significantly enhances user engagement and productivity.
What we learned
We significantly enhanced our teamwork skills throughout this project. We also gained proficiency with Glitch, a collaborative coding platform that was new to us. Additionally, we encountered and overcame various challenges that helped us understand the limitations and further sharpen our skills in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
What's next for Procrastinate No More (PNM)
Looking ahead, we plan to expand PNM's capabilities with a Pomodoro timer integrated with users' calendars, a rich resource hub for learning productivity techniques, and mindfulness exercises during breaks. Additionally, AI-driven personalized suggestions for task management and break activities.
