Inspiration

Being. Broke. Very strong motivator. A lot of university students are thrown into the world of personal finance without much knowledge to survive. However, personal finance is actually really easy! Our app will guide students to improve their financial health and build good habits that will benefit them in the future.

What it does

An all-purpose personal finance focused on delivering the simplest experience with money. Complete with many features such as budgeting, visualisation of your spending, an easy introduction to cashflow, a quick guide to student bank accounts and a time machine!

How we built it

On a mountain of soft drink cans and sugar. We used React.js + tailwind and bootstrap CSS on the frontend, Flask, Sci-Kit learn, beautiful soup, pandas and more + a MongoDB database.

Challenges we ran into

Still don't know what CORS is and never will, finding usable data sets to train machine learning models, and package-lock.json.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Battling with React.js and winning.

What we learned

A lot of asynchronous JavaScript nonsense, how to train a machine learning model and web-scraping.

What's next for Prioriteyes

Prioriteyes aims to clear people's vision and take the next best step, one at a time. We hope to extend the functionality of future sight to gamify the experience and have interactive courses, complete with video lectures and activities to solidify learning.
