Inspiration
As Muslim students who are obligated to perform the five daily prayers, it can be challenging to select classes that do not conflict with prayer times, particularly when there are multiple sections to choose from.
What it does
This class scheduler effectively creates optimal schedules that enable Muslim students to fulfill their mandatory prayer obligations by rating their class schedule for prayer friendliness, thereby reducing personal stress and concerns.
How we built it
We used React Native for our application and an open source adhan library to showcase prayer times each day.
Challenges we ran into
We encountered several obstacles during the project, including a late start, technical issues with React Native, a lack of familiarity with the React Native among team members, and an inability to utilize a Python open-source library to test our algorithm.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Despite being one of the first apps that some of us have created, we were able to successfully develop an algorithm and utilize a library to create a valuable project within a relatively short period of time, making it a useful and beneficial tool for people globally.
What's next for Pray-O-Clock
Enhance the app by incorporating additional functionality such as sending out notifications, providing a map of all prayer locations on campus, incorporating visually appealing elements, implementing automated schedule permutations, introducing a ranking system for schedules, and expanding the app's reach to other universities.
