Healer, Post-Covid Healthcare

The battle with COVID-19 doesn’t end at the moment you come back from the hospital. We’re here to back you up in the ongoing post-COVID war.

Inspiration

People have become aware that COVID-19 is much more persistent than we thought, and it is not so easy to get rid of it. In fact, many people who have already recovered from the acute phase of COVID-19 are still facing the problem of living with a series of post-COVID syndrome, which continues to threaten their health. A spectrum of symptoms after acute COVID-19 has been widely observed not only in people who were severely ill, but also in those who were only mildly hurt by the disease.

Many health professionals have pointed out the necessity of continuing care and even re-admission to the hospital after recovery from COVID-19. We feel motivated to shed light on the post-COVID health conditions and call the public’s attention to the importance of post-COVID care.

What it does

We designed the APP, Healer - Post-Covid Healthcare, for people who are experiencing ongoing pain, symptoms, or any other health concerns because of COVID-19. On the one hand, it provides a place for people to self-report and track their post-COVID symptoms. On the other hand, by incorporating IQVIA's HealthCare Locator Software Developer Kit (SDK), Healer helps the user to easily locate the healthcare professionals when they seek professional advice.

How we built it

The main functions of this demo version include: creating the personal health profile as a first-time user, updating daily health conditions as a returning user, and finding healthcare professionals based on personal needs. For the UI/UX design, we did the UI wireframing and prototyping in Figma. For the IOS development, we built the app using Swift in Xcode and used Firebase for user authentication and database.

Challenges we ran into

One major challenge we encountered is how to minimize the redundant data entry and HCP searching process while providing users with robust support on post-COVID care.

What we learned

Throughout the process, we learned how to encapsulate our considerations and solutions in many details of the interaction design. For example, the APP generates a medical record card based on the user’s past health data, saving time for recalling previous symptoms and allowing the healthcare professionals to make more accurate diagnoses. We also incorporate data visualizations of the health record and suggesting notifications when certain symptoms are frequently reported, which help the users better understand their health information. The integration of IQVIA's HealthCare Locator SDK further facilitates the process of seeking healthcare by preventing the user from switching to other places for endless searching.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We believe that with the combination of an efficient health data tracker and the HealthCare Locator SDK, Healer is able to respond to the needs of post-COVID care and empower people in the enduring healing process against the post-COVID war.
